Department of Computer Engineering

Welcome to the website of the Department of Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI”.

The Department of Computer Engineering was established in 1960. It is the first and leading department in Ukraine that trains specialists in the field of software and hardware of modern computers, computer systems and networks: project managers, developers, users, programmers, system programmers, system administrators. The department trains bachelors in computer engineering and software engineering, masters in computer systems and networks and software systems. Compiled taking into account the many years of experience of the department, the experience of leading universities in the USA and Europe, the bachelors and masters training program meets the modern world level.

Specialists in the specialty “Computer Systems and Networks” receive deep and comprehensive knowledge in the design, development, operation of system and application programming of complex computing complexes: distributed and cluster computer systems, local, global and corporate computer networks.

The activities of specialists in the specialty “Systems Software” are related to the development and maintenance of application software for computer systems and networks, corporate systems and networks, decision support systems, management systems, intelligent systems, business software, Web portals, multimedia software, databases and knowledge, software tools for information protection in computer systems and networks.

Students are given the opportunity to study simultaneously: at the University of Merseburg (Germany) with the receipt of bachelor’s and master’s degrees. At the University of Le Mans (France) bachelor’s graduates of the department have the opportunity to continue their studies with the receipt of a master’s degree.

The department operates the first educational and scientific center in Ukraine, opened by Hewlett-Packard (HP) and the educational and scientific laboratory of SAMSUNG. The task of the center and the laboratory is to attract students to the most modern computer technologies, to train high-level IT specialists who are competitive in the labor market.

The educational process at the department is provided by 11 professors, doctors of technical sciences, 14 associate professors, candidates of technical sciences, 7 senior lecturers, and 18 assistants. The scientific school of the department is represented by more than 200 graduates of postgraduate and doctoral studies in 18 countries of the world.
