50 years of the department

The Department of Computer Engineering has celebrated half-century anniversary. Established in 1960, the department is of almost the same age with the computer technology in Ukraine itself. Among the teachers of the department were the developers of the first computing machines in the USSR and mainland Europe – MEOM, created under the guidance of Academician S.A. Lebedev in Kyiv. Throughout half a century, the Department has released about three and a half thousand highly qualified specialists in computer technology that have made a significant contribution to the development of the field. Among the graduates - academicians and corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences, more than two dozens ScD’s and 350 PhD’s, directors and chief designers of the leading companies in the industry. The Department was also the base for creation of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Specialized Computer Systems.
