The nature of school 
Development of fundamental knowledge in the basic theory of building high-performance computer systems and networks, methods and means of hardware and software implementation.

The history of the school. The school was founded in 1960 by prof. Samofalov Konstantin , represented in Ukraine and in 18 countries by postgraduates and doctoral graduates. During the period of the school functionality were trained 18 ScDs and over 350 PhDs. Scientific results are contained in 46 books, presented in 950 patents of the USSR, Ukraine and other countries, theses, magazines and scientific journals. Total number of scientific papers is more than 3000. Six members of the Department awarded with a medal "inventors of the USSR." Works Department awarded two State Prizes of Ukraine (K. G.Samofalov, O.M. Romankevych, L.F. Karachun) and one award of the USSR (K.G. Samofalov) in science and technology. 


In the period from 1961 to 1965, Research Department conducted towards automation of production processes with the use of computer technology by means of 12 subjects planned state budget, including in particular important topics supported by state contract works. 

 For example: 


The theoretical justification for the development of methods i experimental study dynamic characteristics of the complex installations rectificate columns AVT Kherson oil refinery without disruption of normal operation. 


Development of unified control machine (UKM). The theme was performed according to plan the major activities of Council under the Minister of the USSR 1380 from 24.12.1963, the (issue 31/113).

 
PDR-C-5 was carried out jointly with the department processing telemetry (cosmic) information of the Institute of Applied Mathematics of the USSR for scientific and technical challenge of the USSR Academy of Sciences of the space (by 1963-1965) 
Development of specialized computing machines (CM) management program for cathode ray gun when carrying out welding works. Performed on the task of the Institute of Electric Nat. E.O. Paton USSR. 


Since 1965, scientific work carried out in solving the complex problem of development, research, creation and introduction into industry of new means of computer engineering. 


By 1973, at the department fully developed and formed four research areas, which employed 58 full-time employees of the SRP, whether 19 PhDs

. 
Overall, these trends can be formulated in the following way: 


  • Development and studying of new technical devices in Computer Science in integral realization and principles of increasing the efficiency of computational processes and devices.

 

  • Development of a specialized mathematical software means for computing engineering and automation using digital computer (DCM)

. 

  • The use of computer technology to plan management of the learning process of the universities on the example of KPI. 


  • Automation of production processes with the use of means of computer engineering. 


Each direction supported at the department by one or two research laboratories, where research was provided, and training specialists on the basis of state budget i state contract works. It was established six laboratories. Fundamental theoretical investigations at the department periodically supported by the major developments that are implemented in the industry that confirmed by great economic effect from implementing them. For example, confirmed by Economic effect exceeded 16 million rubles in the 10th and 11th i five-years.

 
In the Commonwealth of staff of  NGO Korolev developed first in the WORLD practice integrated automation system galvanic shop on the basis of modernized DCM<Dnepr>. Results generalized in monograph "Integrated Automation galvanic crafts with the use of control computers," K., High School, 1973, p. 200. (In conjunction editing prof. Samofalov K.G.). Large gold medals of the USSR. 


By 1978, it was established four research laboratories: conveyor computing - Assoc. 
Loutskii H.M.; computing devices for signal processing - Assoc. Kanevskij Y.S.; elements and devices of electronics and computers based on nonlinear dielectrics - prof.Samofalov K.G., theory and methods of computer aided design systems and problem-oriented software - Assoc. Buzovskii O.V.

 
In the 80 years established new laboratories: the organization of computing in multiprocessor real-time systems - Assoc. Zhabin V.I.; of computing in multiprocessor and distributed computing systems and networks - prof. Simonenko V.P.; information security of computer systems and networks - prof. Shyrochyn V.P.; generalized methods of automating programming, system programming and knowledge engineering - Assoc. Pustovarov V.I. 

 It accents on: 

For the first time theoretically grounded opportunities receipt milliard productivity of one conveyor processor general-purpose without parallel tasks on the algorithm level and linear dependence of productivity growth in the number of increasing processor amaunts. Participation in the creation of specialized systems <M Processor> based on pipelined processor together with NGOs, Koroliova. Monograph "Fundamentals of the theory of multilevel conveyor systems", Radio and Communications, Moscow, 1989, 270 p.. (By K.G. Samofalov, G.M. Lutskii). 


Create a new dielectric element base in the integral realization (dielectric memory, ADC, DAC, matrix sensors for acoustic tomohrafs etc.). The results are summarized in the monograph "Dielectric element base," Techniques, Kyiv, 170 p.. (In general publisher of K.G. Samofalov and Y.V. Martyniuk). USSR State Prize (K.G. Samofalov). 


Creation and implementation serial production of complex systems diagnostic sophisticated digital equipment: System Version KODIAK i-128. Results generalized in monographs "Structural and temporary redundancy in control systems", High School, Kyiv, 1979, p. 158. (Authors Romankevych A.M. Karachun L.F.). 


USSR State Prize for 1984 (Romankevych A.M. Karachun L.F.). Creation of specialized computer tools for CPC systems: ST-4 computer systems for CPC <Mikron 4.1> <4.8 Mikron> (NPO <Kyiv radiozavod>), computers SV-5 and SV-6 that extend the possibility of increasing the number of managers coordinate system in CPC from 3-4 to 10-12.Create a multiprocessor control system for CPC systems. Scientific supervisor Assoc. Zhabin V.I. 


Supermikro-computer PARCOS-96 (class personal super-computer), oriented for processing signals, images and solving linear algebra tasks. Total productivity system can grow far from 200 to 240 Mflop. Results generalized in monograph "Systolic processors", Kyiv, Techniques, 1991, 173 p.. (By prof. Kanevskij Y.S.). 


Functionally-oriented means and microprocessor systems for data processing in real time. Small parties of systems operational control and control in real time was released by USSR  Minzvjazky, USSR Minpryladu and USSR. For example, systems KAI-M-T4 AIST, AIST-21, 88Sb: KKRO. Scientific supervisor prof. Tarasenko V.P.

Creation theory and principles izoeffective scalable computing systems, methods of synthesis of new topologies of scalable fault-tolerant computing systems. Development of the optimal topology-purpose, scalable options for building fault-tolerant computer systems with higher performance and much better izoeffectivity hypercubical  topology. 
Creating algorithms for routing information messages and packages in a scalable computing systems with fault tolerant topology. 
 Development of new planning algorithms, including heuristic two passable universal and complex. 

- Theory and Methods of computer aided design systems and problem-oriented software - Sc.D. prof. Buzovskii O.V. 
Development of the theory of designing computer systems on the system, operational, functional , logical and design levels of the design, formal methods and algorithmic representations of solutions design problems. Design theory and methodology of monitoring and diagnosing computer systems and their components based on an idea diagnosis procedure as a procedure for diagnosing the object decomposition fragments with defined characteristics test suitability. 
Development of theoretical foundations and methods of computer processing of contour images, documentation and circuit handwriting on the basis of determination of adequacy for quality image processing of semantic models and the development of simplified algorithms for solving specific problems of image recognition. Results published in 3 books and 200 scientific papers, 8 copyright certificates. Secure 20 PhD s and a ScD dissertation. 


- Elements and devices of electronics and computers based on nonlinear dielectrics - Corresponding Member. National Academy of Sciences, Sc.D.  prof. Samofalov K.G. 
Creation and studying of scientific and technological foundations of ferroelectric capacitor and transformer volatile storage elements and devices (FSD) with destructive and nondestructive readout. Processed technologies of realization of FSD’s on a thin (0.2-0.4 microns and less) ferroelectric husk with KMON structures 5-20 ns speed and density of elements to 0.128 and 32 Mbit/mm2 at a rate of 1 and 0.065 microns in Ukraine and abroad. 


Developing technology and building up a conception of a new class of antennas for multiple ultrasound systems for medical and technical diagnostics based on symmetric microstrips separately-compatible converters on thick (0,02-0,3 mm) piezoelectric husk. Creating conditions for development of domestic ultrasonic diagnostic equipment, which does not yield the best foreign models, resolution - 0.1 mm, the frequency to 100 MHz. Within the protected eight PhDs and a ScD dissertation. 


- Organization of computations in multiprocessor and distributed computing systems and networks - Sc.D . prof. Simonenko V.P. 
Establishing a problem solving planning and dispatching in multiprocessor and distributed computing systems and networks, development of algorithms and program planners and managers for the problems of static and dynamic planning in parallel computer systems, development of algorithms and programs for a short time, or optimized planes for optimal solutions of a wide range of tasks of planning. 


Studies designed to develop a multiprocessor system planners and distributed information computing systems with increased performance and survivability for solving applied problems of planning and combinatorial optimization, in areas such as driving a car, trade, banking, the knowledge base of large volume. 


- Information security of computer systems and networks - Sc.D.  prof. Shyrochyn V.P. 
Creating elements of the theory of security and predictability of behavior of software in distributed computer systems. Development of fault-tolerant and secure software management or modeling for research and prevention at different stages of unexpected logical errors in the organization of software in real time. Methods and means of authentication of subjects and messages in distributed computer systems. Development of theoretical foundations and mathematical models for assessing safety, debugging software in the design phase, coding and modification programs. 

- Basic theory, methods and tools for building real-time computing systems – Sc.D . prof.. Zhabin V.I.  
Creating a basic theory of highly modular computing systems capable of automatic reconfiguration and scaling performance on demand of external factors. Research methods of organization and interaction of hardware and software computer systems using classical and flow model of parallel computation in real time. According to research published monograph, 8 textbooks, the results put into production and training process. 
  
- Generalized methods for automation of programming, system programming and knowledge engineering – Ph.D. assoc. Pustovarov V.I. 
The theory of software design, building systems automation programming efficiency and expansion of applications software systems, knowledge engineering, implementation of verification systems software and equipment through simulation, formal verification of hardware behavior of structures submitted for languages Verilog HDL and VHDL; automation development system software resources of the action control systems, databases and knowledge bases. Development of theoretical foundations and mathematical models to assess the effectiveness of the software during its design and substantial simplification of preparation and debugging automation software intelligent systems. 


- High level synthesis of computer systems to implement periodic algorithms - Senior Scientist, Ph.D. Sergienko A.M.   
Development of basic theory of periodic mapping algorithms in computer systems (CS), consisting of sets of processor elements (PE) and their switching systems. Creation of methods of synthesis and final description of the system on the structural level and the level of register transfers, assembly and distribution programs for PE, methods and techniques for the design of operating systems on chip with millions of gates and performance to tens or hundreds of billions of operations per second. Development and implementation of highly efficient projects operating system, multi-purpose projects on FPGAs: core microprocessor architecture i8051 and ARM; processors rapid transformations of orthogonal signals; structural compiler digital filters and others. Monograph published in 2003.

Science school department presented more than 300 graduates of the department doctoral graduate in 18 countries around the world and, of course, continues to evolve as on the Basic department computers, network and systems and, so on the "daughterly" departments.
